Bernie is a co-founder of Akambo, having teamed up with Anthony Kapetanovic in early 2007 to help shape and manage the company’s investment portfolio.
Bernie began his journey in financial markets in 1983 with a career spanning over four decades. He has gained extensive experience trading fixed interest, futures, options, commodities, currencies, and equities at various broking houses. Bernie’s expertise in technical analysis—his long-held specialty—has also led him to lecture for the ASX and continues to play a key role in reinforcing Akambo’s risk management discipline.
Bernie brings a deep understanding of market dynamics, a hands-on approach to investment management, and a sharp eye for detail that comes only with time and experience. His influence remains foundational to Akambo’s strategic thinking and portfolio design.
Bernie is a passionate triathlete outside the markets. He has proudly represented Australia at world championship events across the Ironman and sprint distances.
He was also part of the winning corporate triathlon team in Melbourne’s finance and insurance division. Bernard is working on two new challenges when not training or travelling: learning to play the keyboard and speaking Italian.
